DESCRIPTION

Product Overview

  • From 2004.5-2010, the LLY, LBZ, and LMM Duramax engines shared a highly flawed factory Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) design. To meet emissions standards, the factory vents oily mist from the crankcase directly back into the turbo inlet mouthpiece.
  • Over time, this heavy oil mist coats the inside of your turbocharger compressor wheel, pool-fills your intercooler, and thoroughly soaks your rubber intercooler boots. Once those boots get saturated with hot oil, they lose their grip, swell up, and blow off under high boost pressure while you're towing.
  • Worse yet, if you still run a factory EGR, this oily mist mixes with hot soot to form a concrete-like sludge that chokes your intake. Our PCV Reroute Kit isolates this loop, venting blow-by gases safely to keep your entire intake piping bone dry and clean.
Key Features
  • End Intercooler Boot Blow-Offs: With oil banished from the charge pipes, your rubber and silicone boots stay dry and tightly clamped, holding firm past 30+ PSI of boost.
  • Stop Sludge Before It Forms: Block oil vapor from ever reaching the intake tract and the restrictive, engine-choking carbon sludge never gets a chance to build up.
  • Clear Out the Engine Bay: Toss the bulky factory plastic crankcase box and free up working room to reach the fuel lines and injectors without the clutter.
  • Shield the Turbo Compressor Wheel: Abrasive, oil-borne grit can no longer strike the spinning blades, so the turbo keeps its balance and lasts far longer.

FAQ

Q: Will installing this PCV reroute kit set off a Check Engine Light (CEL)?

A: No. Unlike the EGR or DPF, the Duramax PCV system is entirely mechanical and isn’t monitored by any sensors, so installing this kit will never trigger a CEL or call for custom tuning.

Q: Will this reroute kit produce a strong oil smell inside the truck cabin?

A: No, provided it’s routed correctly. Running the premium hose down past the transmission to end near the transfer case or rear axle lets natural under-truck airflow sweep light vapors away from the cabin vents, keeping the air conditioning completely smell-free.

Q: In extreme cold winter weather, can the reroute hose freeze or clog?

A: Not with this design. Cheap kits use sagging hoses where oil pools and freezes, blocking ventilation and blowing out engine seals, but this kit avoids those traps. In extreme sub-zero regions, simply route the hose straight down to keep it as short and direct as possible.

Q: Should this CCV/PCV reroute be installed together with an EGR delete?

A: Yes — they’re the ultimate clean-air duo. Deleting the EGR stops dry carbon soot, while this reroute stops wet oil mist, so doing both together guarantees a clean, dry, restriction-free intake. For a matching delete, see the 2004.5-2005 6.6L EGR Delete Kit or the 2006-2007 6.6L  EGR Delete Kit.
