DESCRIPTION

Product Overview

  • Unprotected harness connections present a severe risk to your truck's electronic system during an exhaust upgrade on a 2017–2019 L5P Duramax. Disconnecting factory emissions modules leaves bare CAN Bus wiring exposed to water, road grime, and salt, which quickly leads to electrical shorts, erratic dashboard warnings, and frustrating limp-mode triggers.
  • This Weather-Sealed L5P CAN Bus Cap & Terminator Kit completely protects your electrical network after removing OEM emissions hardware. Designed for a quick, snap-in installation, it seals open harness plugs against moisture and dirt while completing the necessary CAN Bus signal loop to keep your truck’s communication system running smoothly and glitch-free.
Key Features
  • Lock Out Moisture Completely: Weather-resistant seals and locking tabs grip each connector for a tight, vibration-proof, fully waterproof fit that stays put.
  • Shield the Harness from the Elements: Water, dust, salt, and mud are blocked from ever reaching the truck’s exposed wiring, keeping the sensitive electronics safe.
  • Keep the CAN Bus Circuit Complete: Pre-wired loop pins close the circuit so the ECM keeps talking to every module seamlessly without throwing fault codes.
  • Snap In with Zero Wiring Work: No cutting, no splicing, no custom harness — just click the plugs into the factory connectors where the removed sensors used to live.

FAQ

Q: What makes these plugs necessary on an L5P after an exhaust upgrade?

A: Removing the factory emissions equipment leaves open harness plugs under the truck. This kit caps those ports to keep water and dirt out while completing the CAN Bus circuit for normal module communication.

Q: Is a custom tune required to run these plugs?

A: Yes. While the plugs physically complete the electrical circuits, they’re used during emissions equipment modifications, so you still need an engine tune to disable the deleted sensor logic in the computer and prevent check engine lights.

Q: Exactly where under the truck do these four plugs install?

A: The three black plugs cap the connections near the frame rail and transmission area, where the DEF and NOx modules were unplugged. The grey plug serves as the terminator, snapping into the main harness connector near the rear chassis.

Q: Are these plugs compatible with newer L5P Duramax models?

A: No. GM redesigned the electrical connectors for the newer model years, so the earlier plugs will not fit the updated trucks. Owners of the newer L5P need the updated plug profiles and pin configuration built specifically for those vehicles.
